Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On the first trading session of the week, both Sensex and Nifty opened in the negative territory. Even at 11.56 am, both were spotted in the red zone, down by 0.84 per cent & 0.81 per cent at 57,212.90 and 17,057.80 levels, respectively.
The top three gainers of today's session include HDFC, ICICI Bank, and Tata Steel, which climbed 0.76 per cent, 0.52 per cent & 0.45 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, HCL Technologies, Maruti, and IndusInd Bank turned out to be the top three losers, which tumbled 2.53 per cent, 2.10 per cent & 2.04 per cent, respectively.
