Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Friday, both Sensex & Nifty opened in the positive territory but at 11.49 am, Sensex was spotted in the red zone at 58,424.14 levels, down by 0.06 per cent. On the other hand, after trading in the red zone for some time, Nifty gained 0.02 per cent to be at 17,405.15 levels.
Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel, and UltraTech Cement emerged as the top three gainers today, which inched higher by 1.66 per cent, 1.43 per cent & 1.31 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, and Power Grid turned out to be the top losers, which tanked 1.65 per cent, 1.36 per cent & 1.28 per cent, respectively.
