Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Tuesday, the domestic benchmark indices opened in the positive territory, and even at 12.18 pm, both were spotted in the green zone. Sensex was up by 0.21 per cent at 57,379.27 levels while Nifty inched higher by 0.11 per cent to be at 17,072.90 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session include Power Grid, Axis Bank, and Bajaj Finance, which surged 3.28 per cent, 1.91 per cent & 1.71 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC, and Tata Steel turned out to be the top three losers today, which tanked 1.59 per cent, 0.96 per cent & 0.92 per cent, respectively.
