Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Friday, the domestic benchmark indices opened in the red, and even at 11.50 am, both Sensex and Nifty continued trading in the red zone. Sensex tanked 1.97 per cent at 57,636.75 levels while Nifty tumbled 2.00 per cent at 17,185.85 levels.
Dr Reddy's Laboratories, Nestle, and TCS emerged as the top three gainers today, which soared 3.86 per cent, 1.10 per cent & 0.54 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Maruti, HDFC, and Tata Steel turned out to be the top three losers, which slumped 3.74 per cent, 3.62 per cent & 3.51 per cent, respectively.
