Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Thursday, Sensex and Nifty opened in the red. However, at 11.32 am, both were spotted in the positive territory. While Sensex was at 58,626.02 levels, up by 0.49 per cent, Nifty climbed 0.44 per cent to be at 17,491.00 levels.
Reliance Industries, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, and Kotak Mahindra Bank emerged as the top three gainers today, which soared 3.75 per cent, 1.52 per cent & 1.48 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever, NTPC, and ICICI Bank turned out to be the top three losers today, which plunged 1.09 per cent, 1.03 per cent & 0.95 per cent, respectively.
