Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened in the green on the third trading session of the week. At 11.51 am on Wednesday, Sensex was seen trading at 58,837.28 levels, up by 0.29 per cent while Nifty inched higher by 0.37 per cent to be at 17,568.45 levels, respectively.
ICICI Bank, NTPC, and Kotak Mahindra Bank emerged as the top three gainers today, which surged 1.88 per cent, 1.69 per cent & 1.59 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, the top three losers included Maruti, Tech Mahindra, and Infosys, which slumped 1.94 per cent, 1.34 per cent & 0.71 per cent, respectively.
