Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened in the negative territory on the second trading session of the week. On Tuesday at 11.20 am, both Sensex and Nifty were seen trading in the red zone at 58,243.31 & 17,380.15 levels, down by 0.38 per cent and 0.21 per cent, respectively.
Tata Steel, Power Grid Corporation, and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries turned out to be the top three gainers today, which surged 3.27 per cent, 2.19 per cent & 1.17 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, the top three losers included IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, and Infosys, which plunged 2.55 per cent, 1.58 per cent & 1.46 per cent, respectively.
