Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Sensex and Nifty opened in the negative territory on the first trading day of the week. At 11.24 am, Sensex was spotted trading at 58,998.23 levels, down by 1.07 per cent while Nifty inched lower by 1.10 per cent to be at 17,569.25 levels.
The top three gainers of today's session include Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, and Power Grid, which climbed 4.07 per cent, 1.80 per cent & 1.48 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance, Reliance, and Bajaj Finserv turned out to be the top three losers today, which plunged 4.30 per cent, 3.43 per cent & 2.91 per cent, respectively.
