Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
At the time of the market opening on Friday, both Sensex and Nifty were trading in the negative territory. At 11.40 am, Sensex slipped 0.28 per cent and was trading at 59,818.63 while Nifty plunged 0.11 per cent to be at 17,837.75 levels.
The top three gainers of today’s session include Tata Steel, UltraTech Cement, and State Bank of India, which inched higher by 2.14 per cent, 2.03 per cent & 1.92 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the top three losers are Induslnd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Reliance, which tanked 2.25 per cent, 2.15 per cent & 1.66 per cent, respectively.
