Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened in the green zone today but thereafter, both plunged into the red zone. However, soon after that, both recovered morning losses and at 12.10 pm on Monday, Sensex was seen trading at 61,170.79 levels, up by 0.56 per cent while Nifty climbed 0.42 per cent at 18,190.55 levels.
The top three gainers of today’s session include ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and State Bank of India, which soared 12.65 per cent, 4.80 per cent & 1.64 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto, HCL Technologies, and Asian Paints turned out to be the top three losers today, which tanked 2.49 per cent, 2.39 per cent & 2.36 per cent, respectively.
