Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
On Friday, the domestic benchmark indices opened in the positive territory, and even at 11.59 am, both were spotted in the green zone. Sensex, as well as Nifty, were trading at 61,050.96 and 18,200.75 levels, up by 0.21 per cent & 0.12 per cent, respectively.
The top three gainers of today’s session include HDFC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Bajaj Finserv, which climbed 2.33 per cent, 2.06 per cent & 1.99 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, ITC, Asian Paints, and Tata Steel turned out to be the top three losers today, which tanked 2.29 per cent, 2.15 per cent & 2.00 per cent, respectively.
