Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
Though Sensex & Nifty opened in the red mark today, yet Nifty not only managed to recover from the lows of the day but also, went past the level of 18,000 for the first time on Monday. At 12.27 pm, Sensex was trading at 60,374.72, up by 0.53 per cent while Nifty was at 18,008.65, up by 0.63 per cent.
Maruti, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Power Grid emerged as the top three gainers today, climbing 3.84 per cent, 2.96 per cent & 2.85 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the top three losers included TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Bharti Airtel, which tanked 5.50 per cent, 1.65 per cent & 0.40 per cent, respectively.
