Five stocks witnessing short covering
Short covering refers to buying back borrowed securities in order to close out an open short position at a profit or loss.
The domestic benchmark indices opened in the positive territory on the last trading day of the week. At 11.55 am on Friday, Sensex was up by 0.62 per cent at 60,050.21 while Nifty was at 17,894.55, up by 0.59 per cent.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, and Tech Mahindra emerged as the top three gainers today, inching higher by 2.07 per cent, 1.91 per cent & 1.79 per cent, respectively.
Meanwhile, NTPC, Hindustan Unilever, and Titan turned out to be the top three losers, which plunged 1.44 per cent, 0.94 per cent & 0.60 per cent, respectively.
