Strategic US Investment to Strengthen UAV and Robotics Capabilities

ideaForge Technology Limited has invested USD 1.832 million (approximately Rs 15.96 crore) in Vantage Robotics, a US-based company specializing in unmanned and robotic aircraft manufacturing. The investment was made through a Compulsorily Convertible Promissory Note on February 19, 2025. This move aligns with ideaForge’s strategy to expand its capabilities in drone technology.

Focus on Expanding Global Presence
ideaForge is actively pursuing over 25 international opportunities, with a strong focus on North America and Africa. The company has increased its L1 pipeline to Rs 400 crore from Rs 300 crore, reflecting growing interest in its products. Recognition as a leading dual-use drone manufacturer has further strengthened its market position.

Advancements in Drone Technology
The company continues to develop new drone solutions, including the SWITCH MINI UAV, which has received the ‘Fit for Indian Military Use’ certification. Upcoming product launches include NETRA 5 and SWITCH V2, which will be showcased at Aero India 2025. Additionally, ideaForge has developed ship-based landing capabilities for quadcopter platforms, expanding its operational scope.

Drone-as-a-Service Model Gains Traction
ideaForge is making progress in its Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) model, with drones being deployed for enterprise safety, traffic management, and urban monitoring. The company has launched the FLYGHT Franchisee model to expand DaaS operations and is in discussions with potential partners.

Financial Performance and Challenges
For Q3 FY25, ideaForge reported consolidated revenues of Rs 17.6 crore, down from Rs 90.9 crore in Q3 FY24. The gross profit margin stood at 46 per cent, with a total gross profit of Rs 8.1 crore. The order book as of December 31, 2024, was approximately Rs 21 crore. Delays in order confirmations, particularly from the Indian Army and government sectors, remain a challenge.

Future Outlook and Growth Prospects
Despite near-term challenges, ideaForge remains confident in the long-term growth of the drone industry. The company continues to focus on innovation and market expansion, with expectations of larger procurement opportunities in the future.
