Day Movers: These healthcare stocks were buzzing on the bourses on Tuesday!

Shilpa Medicare, Aurobindo Pharma and Strides Pharma Science were gaining in today’s trading session.

Notwithstanding the current market turmoil, the healthcare sector outperformed the market today. The S&P BSE Healthcare Index ended at 21,636.47, a 0.14 per cent up while the S&P BSE Sensex ended at 52,693.57, a decline of 0.29 per cent. 

This is a defensive sector hence ongoing cautious global cues seldom affect it. The rise in covid cases could be another trigger for the sector to trade in green. Out of the 30 stocks in this index, 20 stocks were trading in green in today's trade.

Shilpa Medicare is a global brand in manufacturing and supplying affordable API and Formulation. It topped the index and its share price jumped 6.28 per cent and the scrip ended at Rs 447.80.  

Aurobindo Pharma is engaged in manufacturing and marketing active pharmaceutical ingredients, generic pharmaceuticals and related services. The shares of this company were up by 3.81 per cent and the scrip ended at Rs 535.80.  

Strides Pharma Science is focused on the development and manufacture of IP-led niche finished dosage formulations. The shares of this company surged by 3.36 per cent and the scrip ended at Rs 309.
