Cochin Shipyard launches two Ro Pax vessels for IWAI
Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has launched two Ro Pax vessels designed and built for Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI). These vessels launched are the third and fourth vessels in the series of 10 vessels order from IWAI.
CSL is building a total of 8 Ro Pax vessels and two Ro-Ro vessels for IWAI. CSL was nominated for the construction of these vessels, which will be operated in strategic locations in National Waterways 1 & 2. These vessels can accommodate around 200 passengers and will have eight crews and can carry two trucks and four cars. It is also constructing a total of 27 small vessels for IWAI, Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Kerala and Govt. of Tamil Nadu and the Indian Navy.
CSL presently has a robust order book in shipbuilding and ship repairs. Presently, it is building India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) for the Indian Navy which is in advanced stages of testing and commissioning. It is also building a technology demonstration vessel for the DRDO, two 1200 PAX and two 500 PAX vessels for Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
CSL is currently investing a total of Rs 2,769 crore in building a new 310 metre long dry dock at Kochi and a ship lift based ship repair yard at Willingdon Island, Kochi.
On Thursday, the stock of Cochin Shipyard closed at Rs 349.35. During the day, it made intra-day high and low of Rs 350.25 and Rs 347, respectively.
