Closing Bell: Sensex slumps 987 points post Budget 2020
Sensex was opened today, despite being Saturday, as Union Budget was tabled but it seemed that the Sensex is not impressed by the Budget, since it slashed more than 987 points and ended at 39,735.53 levels, down by 2.43 per cent while, Nifty closed at 11,661.85 levels, down by 2.51 per cent.
The top five losers on S&P BSE Sensex are: ITC-down by 6.97 per cent, L&T-down by 5.98 per cent, HDFC-down by 5.87 per cent, State Bank of India-down by 4.83 per cent and ONGC-down by 4.18 per cent.
S&P BSE Mid-cap slipped by 2.21 per cent to close at 15,119.65 levels while S&P BSE Small-cap sank 2.20 per cent to close at 14,344.70 levels. The top three losers on S&P BSE Small-cap are: Ajmera Group-down by 12.31 per cent, Saregama-down by 11.38 per cent and Speciality-down by 11.24 per cent.
S&P BSE Realty, S&P BSE Capital Goods and S&P BSE Industrials were the top losing sectoral indices today, which were down by 7.82 per cent, 4.79 per cent and 3.94 per cent, respectively.
