Closing bell:  BSE SmallCap index close in red; Sugar stocks rally, Uttam Sugar  top small cap index gainer !

Uttam Sugar and Avadh sugar were the top BSE SmallCap gainer up by ~20 per cent each.

RIL dominated the market news however it was IT stocks that delighted its shareholders. IT biggies viz., TCS and Infosys zoomed by more than 3 per cent each while Tech Mahindra was up by more than 2 per cent. Nelco was the top BSE IT index gainer, up by 7 per cent followed by Coforge up by nearly 4 per cent. 

Sensex managed to close at 52699 levels, up by 392 points or 0.75 per cent while Nifty gained 103 points to close at 15790 levels.

BSE SmallCap Index underperformed frontline indices. BSE Small cap index closed down by 0.15 per cent, heavily underperforming the frontline indices. Uttam Sugar and Avadh sugar were the top BSE SmallCap gainer up by 20 per cent each. Other sugar stocks that rallied impressively on bourses were Dalmia Sugar up by more than 17 per cent, Dwarikesh Sugar and Dhampur sugar up by more than 10 per cent  each. Balrampur Chini shut shop after soaring more than 8 per cent. 

UTI AMC gained more than 11 per cent while HSIL rallied almost 11 per cent. KRBL was up by nearly 7 per cent on Thursday. Clariant Chemicals gained by more than 7 per cent. 

PNB Gilts continued its downward momentum slipping by nearly 10 per cent. Munjal Showa, NILA Infra, Schneider electrics and Birla Cables turn out to be top BSE SmallCap losers. Several small cap stocks closed at lower circuit such as Sintex plastics, JP associates, 3i Infotech,  JP Power, JP Infratech, Ballarpur industries, and Siti Networks. ADAG group stocks were locked in lower circuit after profit booking in the counters such as Reliance Defence, Rcom, Reliance Power, and Reliance Infra.

TTML, RattanIndia Enterprises, Nagarjuna Fertilisers, GTL Infra and Reliance Home closed in upper circuit on Thursday. Bombay Rayon Fashions was up by more than 4 per cent after opening in red on the expiry day for the market.
