Buzzing stocks: Small-caps rally on SEBI announcement
In the previous two trading sessions, the broader markets outperformed with an increased focus on the stocks of small-cap companies.
The rally was witnessed after SEBI made an announcement so that the multi-cap schemes remain true to their tag. SEBI has made it mandatory for multi-cap funds to invest 25 per cent each in large, mid, and small-cap stocks. In the current scenario, the multi-cap funds have an exposure to large and mid-cap, which is in compliance with the new regulations but are underweight on small-caps. As a result of the extra light put on small-cap investments, small-cap stocks have been buzzing.
Gaining from the recent rally, the shares of many companies touched their respective fresh 52-week highs on BSE. The list includes Syngene International Ltd, Quick Heal Technologies, Deepak Nitrite Ltd, Amber Enterprises India, APL Apollo Tubes, Persistent Systems, Firstsource Solutions, Radico Khaitan, etc.
BSE Small-Cap index surged by 4.03 per cent on Monday itself and is now up by nearly 5.53 per cent, as witnessed in the last two trading sessions. The index has recovered by gaining by almost 73.33 per cent post the sharp drop in March 2020 and is up by 11.55 per cent on a YTD basis.
