BSE Consumer Discretionary Goods & Services: This small-cap is gaining momentum in a volatile morning!

The company reported robust Q1FY23 results and its shares have rallied more than 10 per cent.

At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red. By 9.20 am, the index strengthened and was seen at 55,331.02 a gain of 62.53 points or 0.11 per cent.  The company is a part of S&P BSE Consumer Discretionary Goods & Services, which was at 5,552.54, a decline of 6.30 points or 0.11 per cent.   

Shoppers Stop Ltd is the nation's leading premier retailer of fashion and beauty brands established in 1991. Spread across 90 department stores in 47 cities, the company also operates 11 premium home concept stores, 138 speciality beauty stores of MAC, Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Jo Malone, Too Faced, SS Beauty, and 25 airport doors, occupying area of 3.8 m sq. ft.  

Key financial highlights for quarter ended June 30, 2022: 

Its sales jumped 383 per cent YoY to Rs 1,190 crore. The company registered a profit before tax of Rs 32 crore against a loss of Rs 157 crore reported in Q1FY22. The company reported EBITDA for the quarter of Rs 67 crore as compared to the previously reported loss of Rs 116 crore in Q1FY22.  

As Wednesday morning showed some volatility, the shares of Shoppers Stop Ltd skyrocketed by 10.84 per cent and the scrip is trading at Rs 600.40.
