BHEL sets up 270 MW thermal power plant in Telangana

On Tuesday, state-owned company Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) informed the bourses that it successfully commissioned a 270MW thermal unit at the 4x270 MW Bhadradri thermal power project at Manuguru in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana.

As stated by the company in a filing to BSE, the unit is the first among four that will be commissioned in the project awarded to BHEL by Telangana State Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO). The project undertaken by the company includes the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of four thermal sets of 270 MW on EPC basis. The work being carried out in the remaining three units is also at an advanced stage.

BHEL has been a dedicated partner in the development of the state of Telangana, supplying sets contributing to 88 per cent of the coal-based power stations set up in the state. The company has entered into a memorandum of understanding between TSGENCO for construction of new thermal power plants totalling 6,000 MW. Projects equipped by the company such as ones in Ramagundam and Kothagudem have consistently been winning meritorious productivity awards from the Ministry of Power for their exceptional performance.

BHEL is an integrated power plant equipment manufacturer engaged in the designing, engineering, manufacturing, constructing, testing, commissioning and servicing of a range of products and services for various sectors, such as power, oil and gas, transmission, transportation, industry, renewable energy, and defence.

BHEL's stock was trading at Rs 29.50, up by 5.36 per cent or Rs 1.50 per share, at 2.55 pm on Tuesday. The 52-week high is Rs 75.50 and the 52-week low is Rs 19.20 on BSE.
