State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Thursday said it has bagged two orders which are cumulatively valued at around Rs. 97 crore for Primary side heat exchangers from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL)

These orders involve manufacture and supply of four moderator Heat Exchangers and 18 D20 Heat Exchangers for the 2x700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) to be installed at Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojna (GHAVP) in Fatehabad district of Haryana.

The heat exchangers will be manufactured at BHEL's Bhopal plant. BHEL has been a pioneer in the design and development of Primary side Products viz. Nuclear Steam Generators for NPCIL, and has so far supplied 40 Steam Generators to various Nuclear power installations in the country.

Significantly, BHEL is the only Indian company associated with all the three stages of the Indian Nuclear Power Programme - the first stage PHWR, the second stage Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) and the third stage Advanced Heavy Water Reactor (AHWR) and has been a partner for over four decades in the development of the indigenous Nuclear Power Programme since its inception.

The company has proven its capability as a designer and manufacturer of both primary (steam generators, reactor headers, end shields, etc.) and secondary (turbine, generator, heat exchangers, etc.) side equipment for Nuclear power projects.

On Thursday, the BHEL stock opened at Rs. 64.50 per share and touched a high/low of 65/63.70 per share.
