BHEL commissions 14 irrigation lift units in a record span of 6 months
On Monday in a stock exchanges filing, the largest Indian PSU, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), informed that it has commissioned 14 units of irrigation schemes in a record duration of six months.
The BHEL informed that it has commissioned two more pumping units, each at Package-6 (7x116 MW) and Package-8 (7x139 MW) of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS). With this, the company has successfully commissioned all 14 pumping units of these packages within a record period of six months and well within the scheduled time. These are very large pump sets, with each pump designed to lift 89 cumecs of water against a head of 100 to 125 metres.
In Telangana, the company has so far commissioned 39 pump-motor sets of various ratings aggregating to 2,306 MW. Additionally, the company is executing another 26 pump-motor sets at present that takes the total to 3,572 MW for various Lift Irrigation Schemes viz. Kaleshwaram LIS Package 10 and 11 and Palamuru Rangareddy LIS Package 5 and 8. Besides Lift Irrigation projects, BHEL has made a significant contribution to the hydro sector of Telangana and has commissioned 1,073 MW of hydro power projects in the state as of now.
At 2.40 pm, the stock traded at Rs. 54.15 on BSE, recording a marginal increase of 0.10 per cent.
