BHEL bags orders for thermal power plant, stock rallies 2 per cent

BHEL has bagged order for setting up 660 MW supercritical thermal power plant in West Bengal amounting to Rs. 3,500 crore, informed the company to the bourses on Monday.

The said order is related to setting up a 1x660 MW Sagardighi Thermal Power Project Extension Unit-5 at Manigram village in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.

The company generates 78 per cent revenue from the Power segment and remaining from the Industry segment. During the recent quarter Q2FY19, the total order inflow stood at Rs. 5,159 crore taking the total order book at Rs. 1,15,533 crores as on September 30, 2018. This robust order book translates to a book to bill of 3.9x, which gives strong revenue visibility for the coming 3-4 years.

BHEL is a leading power equipment manufacturer in the country with 58 sets of supercritical boilers and 51 sets of supercritical turbine generators ordered on it so far, by various customers in the domestic as well as overseas markets

Cheering the order win, the stock jumped by 2 per cent and made an intraday high of Rs. 73.55 per share on the BSE. At 12:23 pm, the stock was trading nearly at Rs. 73 on the BSE. The company had hit its 52-week high of Rs. 108 on January 23, 2018 and its 52-week low of Rs. 61.55 on December 11, 2018 on the BSE.
