Barometers recovered Thursday's losses; Sensex and Nifty climb around 2 per cent
BSE Realty, metal and healthcare stocks were the most upper band hitters. No sector closed in the red today.
Market update at 3.30 PM: The market indices recovered the losses and closed in green. Nifty 50 index jumped 456 points and closed at 16,266 levels while BSE Sensex skyrocketed by 1,534 points and closed at 54,326 level.
Nifty Midcap and Smallcap ended with substantial gains of 1.98 per cent & 2.13 per cent, respectively.
BSE Realty, metal and healthcare stocks were the most upper band hitters. No sector closed in the red today.
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Reliance Industries, Adani Ports, JSW Steel, and Tata Motors emerged as the top gainers among Nifty stocks while Shree Cement & UPL were the only two stocks that declined today.
Aegis Logistics, Macrotech developers, Seamac Ltd, Welspun Corporation, and JSW Energy, stocks rocketed today.
Market update at 12 PM: At 12 PM, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, rose 1,264 points, or 2.40 percent, to 54,056. At 16,186, the Nifty 50 index rose 376 points, or 2.38 percent.
All of the sectorial indices are in the green, with the metal, real estate, healthcare, and auto indices all gaining more than 2.5 percent.
Market breadth was narrow. 2,482 shares increased on the BSE, while 638 declined. There were 139 shares that remained unchanged.
JK Lakshmi Cement, Welspun Corp, and Surya Roshini have all gained more than 10 per cent on the BSE.
Market update at 10 AM: Following strong Asian markets, the benchmark indices opened with a gap-up. NSE's sectoral indices were all in the green with metal, auto, and media companies leading the way. In early trade, Nifty reclaimed the critical 16,000 milestone and is currently trading at 16,119. Sensex is currently trading with a 900-point gain.
S&P BSE Sensex trades at 53,716.06, up by 1141.83 points or 1.75 per cent. At 16,122.65, Nifty 50 index rose 313.25 points or 1.98 per cent.
The biggest gainers on Sensex were Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Induslnd Bank, Tata Steel, and Reliance Industries.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors, JSW Steel, and Tata Steel were the huge winners on Nifty.
Pre-market update: The US stock markets closed sharply lower last night. NASDAQ plunged 0.26 per cent while S&P 500 tumbled 0.61 per cent. In addition, Dow Jones fell 0.75 per cent due to inflation fears and a weak earnings report.
On the other hand, most Asian markets have opened higher with Hang Seng trading with a 1.47 per cent gap-up opening. Meanwhile, Nikkie 225 and KOSPI indices are up by 1.17 per cent & 1.69 per cent, respectively.
FIIs sold equity worth Rs 4,899.92 crore in the recent trading session while DIIs acquired equity worth Rs 3,225.54 crore.
Meanwhile, the IPOs of eMudhra and Rachana Infrastructure will start trading today.
Besides, Brent crude is currently trading at roughly $ 111 per barrel.
Nifty 50 is likely to open on a positive note as SGX Nifty climbs 1.43 per cent.
