Banks lift Sensex up by 200 points
Top banking stocks push BSE Sensex up by another 210 points for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank were the top gainers on the index.
Among the top gainer on BSE Sensex were IndusInd Bank Rs. 1,634.50 per share, up by 4.04 per cent, Yes Bank at Rs. 243.85, up by 3.46 per cent, HDFC Bank at Rs. 2,227.40, up by 2.62 per cent, HCL Tech at Rs. 1,031.90, up by 1.92 per cent, Bajaj Finance at Rs. 2,805.05, up by 1.86 per cent, Bajaj Auto at Rs. 3,026.25, up by 1.17 per cent.
While among top loser on BSE Sensex were Coal India at Rs. 237.80, Tata Steel at Rs. 513, ONGC at Rs. 148.90 and Bharti Airtel all down by more than 2 per cent, while Vedanta was down more than 3 per cent at Rs. 172.15 and NTPC was at Rs. 148.70 per share, down by 1.59 per cent.
Index heavyweights led by HDFC Bank was contributing 125 points to the Sensex gains, followed by HDFC Bank contributing 38 points, Reliance 37.86 points, IndusInd 31.38 points and ICICI Bank 21.48 points.
At 14:13 hours, the benchmark index BSE Sensex was at 37,745.66, up by 210.00 points or 0.56 per cent, while Nifty50 was at 11,340.95, up by 39.75 points or 0.35 per cent on Wednesday. The banking stocks were single-handedly boosting the upward rally. The index that was charting new highs was Nifty Bank at 28,861.50, up by 417.80 points or 1.47 per cent.
