Ashok Leyland launches AVTR, BS-VI compliant modular trucks

On Thursday, auto manufacturer, Ashok Leyland announced the launch of its range of modular trucks, AVTR with i-Gen6 BS-VI technology. The AVTR line-up is India's first modular truck platform in the CV industry offering various options of axle configurations, loading spans, suspensions, cabins and drivetrains on a single platform for the entire range of rigid trucks, tractors and tippers in the 18.5T to 55T category.

The modular platform will permit customers to configure vehicles to their applications and business needs, thus delivering better operational economics and customer satisfaction. On the company front, this would result in better turnaround along with market coverage due to the various permutations and combinations being offered to every customer. The trucks will be built in both, left and right-hand drive configurations in order to allow them access to the global markets and help the company have a global reach.

Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO of Ashok Leyland stated that with the AVTR launch, the company has accomplished the dual challenge of meeting the BS-VI norms as well as the development of a whole new platform. It has the potential to deliver any kind of truck customised to each customer's requirement, in a very short period of time.

In a press release to the BSE, the company informed that the platform provides improved safety and better comfort for drivers, higher reliability and enhanced durability, and is supported by next Gen i-alert fleet management system with remote diagnostics.

The stock closed at Rs 45.75 on Thursday, down by 2.97 per cent or Rs 1.40 per share. The 52-week high is recorded at Rs 93.30 and the 52-week low is Rs 33.70 on BSE.
