Asian markets experienced mixed emotions on Monday. With a loss of 83 points, SGX Nifty indicated a dismal start for India's broader index. In contrast, the benchmark indices in India witnessed a stronger opening.
Performance was positive across all sectors with BSE Capital Goods being the leading gainer with gains of over 2 per cent, driven by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL). The shares of HAL surged more than 8 per cent and reached a new 52-week high. The defence company recently signed a contract worth over $100 million USD with Honeywell International Inc.
JSW Energy rallied over 9 per cent, helping the sectoral indices such as BSE Power and BSE Utilities to close higher. BSE Midcap index advanced 0.31 per cent while BSE Smallcap index gained 0.28 per cent.
After the board of directors approved the raising of funds through the issue and allotment of equity shares up to a sum not exceeding Rs 200 crore, Rushil Decor Ltd experienced the largest boost among the Small-Cap pack, rising over 11 per cent. In the small-cap index, the shares of Mold-Tek Packaging, HFCL Ltd, and VLS Finance experienced enthusiastic buying, gaining by 9 per cent each.
