Sensex crosses above 236 points amidst global markets gain
Sensex ended today’s trading session above 236 points at 41,216.14 levels, up by 0.58 per cent as the global markets too ended in positive numbers. Nifty too was higher by 0.63 per cent and managed to close at 12,107.90 levels.
The top five gainers of S&P BSE Sensex are: NTPC-up by 2.95 per cent, Maruti-up by 2.07 per cent, State Bank of India-up by 1.84 per cent, Power Grid-up by 1.53 per cent and Bajaj Auto-up by 1.35 per cent.
S&P BSE Mid-cap clocked up gain by 0.35 per cent and closed at 15,835.65 while, S&P BSE Small-cap slumped by 0.18 per cent and managed to close at 14,749.95 levels. The top three losers of small-cap stocks are: Mangalam Organics-down by 20.00 per cent, Parag Milk Foods- down by 16.71 per cent and Patel Engineering Limited-down by 10.05 per cent.
Meanwhile, the top three sectoral indices are: S&P BSE Utilities-up by 1.68 per cent, S&P BSE Power-up by 1.50 per cent and S&P BSE Metal-up by 0.92 per cent.
