Bharti Airtel, a telecommunications company, today announced special measures to assist lower-income group customers impacted by COVID-19 crisis.

Airtel has extended the pre-paid pack validity for over 80 million customers till April 17, 2020. These customers will continue to get incoming calls on their Airtel numbers even after the validity of their plan exhausts. The company will also credit an additional amount of Rs 10 in the pre-paid accounts of all these 80 million customers as a talktime in order to enable them to make calls or send SMS smoothly.

The program has already been kicked off and these benefits will be available to users in the next 48 hours. These 80 million customers are estimated to cover all underprivileged households on Airtel network. These special measures will particularly benefit daily wage earners as well as low earning migrant workers, who may have been impacted due to the nationwide lockdown to combat COVID-19. Most of the other customers on the network are recharging their accounts using various online payment platforms.

These initiatives will help customers to have unrestricted access to vital information from local authorities. Along with this, it would also enable them to keep in touch with their near and dear ones at this hour of crisis.
