Today, the Indian stock market set a new high, with its overall market capitalization surpassing $4 trillion for the first time.
The Nifty 50 index closed at a record high of 20,096 Wednesday, reclaiming the 20,000 milestone. This is the first time the index has exceeded this level since September 2023. Today, the Indian stock market also set a new high, with its overall market capitalization surpassing $4 trillion for the first time.
The rally was driven by positive global cues, with US stocks rising overnight on optimism about the upcoming earnings season. European stocks were also higher, as investors looked past concerns about a possible recession.
On the domestic front, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were net buyers of Indian stocks today, buying Rs 2,360.81 crore worth of shares. This helped to boost sentiment and push the markets higher.
The automotive sector led the gains, posting an increase of 1.6 per cent. Following closely behind were the banking and information technology sectors, both exhibiting robust performances with gains of 1.5 per cent. These sectors contributed significantly to the overall positive sentiment in the market. The real estate sector experienced a slight decline, ending the day in the red with a decrease of 0.5 per cent. Similarly, the media sector also saw a marginal downturn, closing 0.1 per cent lower.
Despite these isolated declines, the broader market showcased resilience and strength, with investors showing confidence in sectors such as auto, banks, and IT.
The following is a list of stocks that have seen a strong positive breakout.
