Nifty 50 began today's session flat with a bullish bias at 18,570.85, compared to its previous closing of 18,560.5. This was due to a confluence of global factors. At 10:00 a.m., Nifty 50 reached Thursday’s high of 18,625. On Wednesday, leading Wall Street indices concluded flat, as investors assessed the degree of the US Fed's monetary tightening and its impact on the economy.
Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.51 per cent, while S&P 500 dipped 0.19 per cent. Both of these indices concluded in the red for the fourth and fifth time in a row. Dow Jones, on the other hand, concluded flat, up 0.01 per cent. As investors expected the US Fed to raise interest rates relatively fast, Asian markets on Thursday is witnessing a mixed trading session.
Nifty 50 was trading flat at 18,581.9 at 12:05 p.m., up 21.4 points or 0.12 per cent. Broader markets continue to outperform the frontline indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index and Nifty Small-Cap 100 index both climbed by 0.32 per cent.
The advance-decline ratio on the BSE was marginally positive, with 1880 stocks rising, 1424 falling, and 153 staying unchanged. All sectors traded in the green, except for pharmaceuticals, realty, and IT.
According to December 7 statistics, FIIs were net sellers while DIIs were net purchasers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,241.87 crore. DIIs (domestic institutional investors) invested Rs 388.85 crore in shares.
