REC Commits CSR Assistance To NITCON

Shri P J Thakkar, Director (Technical), Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), has signed an MoU with the North India Technical Consultancy Organisation (NITCON), committing financial assistance under CSR initiatives for imparting job-oriented skill development programmes to 250 educated people from the SC/ST/OBC/economically weaker sections of society, including women, from the backward areas of Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

The skill development/up-gradation programmes will be offered in domains related to the power sector, like Welding Technician, Industrial Fitter & Machinist, Lab Technicians, Basic Electrician, RAC Mechanics, Data Entry Operators, CNC operators, and more, with placement assistance to the trainees, leading to a generation of sustainable livelihoods.

Foundation Of NTPC’s Auditorium and Library

Dr Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC laid the foundation stone of the auditorium and library of the NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA) on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at its NETRA Complex in Greater Noida. Shri A K Jha, Director (Technical), Shri A N Dave, Regional Executive Director (NC), Shri V K Gupta, ED (Hydro), Shri D K Agarwal, ED (NETRA), Shri A K Gupta ED (Engineering) and a large number of executives of NTPC were present on the occasion. NTPC has a state-of-the-art, sprawling NETRA Complex in Greater Noida , housing eco-friendly R & D building where the scientists are engaged in research work related to climate change, waste management, new and renewable energy, efficiency improvement and cost reduction besides providing scientific support to NTPC and external utilities for improving availability, reliability and efficiency. The prime thrust is towards clean and economic power generation. The patents have been filed in areas of climate change, waste management etc.

HPCL Plans To Revive Mega Refinery/Petro Project In Vizag

To meet the growing fuel demand in the country that is expected to be in the vicinity of 50 million tonnes by 2020, the state-owned Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) will revive its Rs 50000 crore stalled refinery-cum-petrochemicals project near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The 15-million tonne a year refinery and a mega petro-chem plant is being built about 70 km away from the company’s existing Vizag refinery, HPCL Chairman and Managing Director S Roy Choudhury said. The company is looking for 3000 acres of land in Andhra Pradesh to set up the proposed project. The oil marketing company has asked energy giants including Total SA of France and British petroleum major BP Plc to join in to revive the stalled petrochemical project of land for which the company has approached the Andhra Pradesh government.
