Beta Of Listed Stocks
Beta Of Listed Stocks
On behalf of my father, Shri N. Kumar Chhabra, who has been a subscriber to Dalal Street Investment Journal for many years now, I would like to know about the beta of the listed chemical companies in India. It would be of great help if you could provide me with the same.

The beta of stocks is always with reference to an Index. There are a whole lot of indices based on which the beta can be calculated. There is no specific readily available index for chemical companies, and the same would have to be calculated individually. We have forwarded your request to our Core Research Unit, and you should hear from them soon in this regard.
Day-To-Day Stock Market Information
I have been in touch with the share market for the past five years, and also have a trading account. I wish to get some fundamental as well as technical information in relation to the stocks that I have in my portfolio. I would like to have data feeds about the day’s high-low, volumes, MACD moving average, PE, etc. with the support of some good software.
Kindly help me in selecting such software, and guide me on any information regarding the same.

There are certain software products available which disseminate data on an end of day basis, which you can use for this purpose.
Numbers Confusion
I am a reader of Dalal Street Investment Journal. In the article titled ‘ICICI Bank vs. HDFC Bank: Whom To Bank On?’ carried on page 23 of Vol. 27, Issue No. 10 (dated April 23-May 6, 2012), there is some confusion. In the comparison box, you have mentioned that HDFC Bank has 1986 branches and later, you say that it has 2529 branches. Please let me know which one is correct.

The box that you are referring to is that for ICICI Bank and not HDFC Bank. You are correct in pointing out the mistake, which is a typographical error.
