Agriculture to focus on pro-farmer Budget
Budget 2016 was pro-poor and pro-farmer Budget which gave push to the sector. Agricultural growth accelerated from 1.2 per cent to 4.1 per cent in the last fiscal year.
After two years of continuous drought-like situation in the country, the year 2016 was a relief year as the monsoon season remained above normal. Meanwhile, Rabi season is also expected to remain better for the year.
There are various initiatives that have been taken to ease farmers from the burden of loans. The government has already initiated various schemes supporting farmers such as Kisan credit cards, crop insurance schemes and minimum wages for farmers. The farmers are getting new and modern equipments from the industry. This will support fast and efficient production.
